The Education Technical Specialist position will provide technical support and guidance to World Vision Canada (WVC) Education programming and sectoral grants in Education. The focus of the position is to ensure Education technical standards are met in program quality, grant support, monitoring and evaluation and resource development by leveraging on learnings and best practices, as well as Education policy and advocacy work contributing to our four Child-Well Being Outcomes.
Technical Oversight: Ensure WVC projects in Education are aligned with WVI global sectoral strategies, WVC frameworks and sectoral technical standards as well as global best practices contributing to improved education outcomes and child wellbeing Capacity Building: Strengthen the capacity of grant and project staff through training, coaching and mentoring to support quality programing leading to measurable impact. Thought Leadership: Enhance the credibility of WVC’s sectoral expertise in Education through developing and presenting project impact and learnings in internal and external learning forums, maintenance and/or establishment of strategic partnerships and alliances for enhancing education programming and supporting WVC leadership engagement in the education sphere. Resource Development: Expand the scope and diversity of WVC’s resource acquisition and donor engagement in education by leveraging learnings and innovations from project implementations.
Duties and responsibilities
Qualifications: A Master’s degree in Education with at least 5 years international experience in Education development and emergency programming, OR an undergraduate degree in Education, professional designation in the education sector and at least 7 years international experience in education programming. At least 7 years’ experience in the design, implementation and management of complex, large scale grant funded Education development projects, including experience with Canadian donors such as Global Affairs Canada (GAC) Over 5 years’ experience in the Education sector in Policy, Capacity Development, Research and Evaluation, and Cross- sectoral Partnerships. Demonstrated experience in program documentation, program monitoring, donor report writing, networking, and partner development for resource acquisition. Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional, agile and remote teams for the purpose of program implementation, development of technical standards, capacity-building, training and resource acquisition. Excellent facilitation skills, strong interpersonal and English communication skills, both verbal and written, strong negotiation, diplomacy, leadership and team work skills. Ability to mobilize stakeholders into partnerships and alliances, lead and facilitate collaborative processes. Analytical skills for synthesis of materials, evaluations, and preparation of presentations/articles for publication as well as experience in a PC environment and use of MS Office software. Availability for international and domestic travel 2 -3 times per year as needed. Ability to work remotely using digital platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype, etc. Fluency in a second language, such as French or Spanish, is desirable and will be considered an asset
