Reporting to the Head Miller and functionally responsible to the Shift Miller, the incumbent will spend the majority of the shift training with the Assistant Miller 1 to become fully competent in the Assistant Miller 1 position. Thereafter primary duties will be housekeeping and vacation relief on shift.\n

Your day-to-day activities will include:\n

Training with the Assistant Miller 1 to become fully competent in the Assistant Miller 1 role;\n

Working independently providing relief as Assistant Miller 1 with proven competence as Assistant Miller 2. Competence in the Assistant Miller 2 position will be measured by safety record and proven ability to operate the equipment to meet the requirements without damage to the machinery or loss of product;\n

Working rotating shifts to ensure exposure to adequate training including start-ups and shut-downs;\n

Performing the cleaning and sanitation/housekeeping duties in the Mill when not training with the Assistant Miller 1 during the shift;\n

Performing routine tasks on repair days ? checking oil levels, changing rolls, drive belts, cleaning the inside of the equipment etc ? according to assignment from Assistant Miller 1/Shift Miller or Supervisor;\n

Performing other duties as required\n

The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:\n

A minimum of High School Diploma or recognized equivalent;\n

Completion of all 8 units of the IAOM (International Association of Operative Millers) taken by correspondence with at least 65% achievement ? if not already completed, to be completed in the first year in the position;\n

Willingness to further education i.e Advanced Flour Milling short course, when offered by the Company;\n

Minimum 1-2 years working experience in a cleaning/sanitation or milling related duties is preferred;\n

Proven mechanical ability is required ( to be tested);\n

Must be able to work independently and as part of the team;\n

Must be able to work rotating shifts which includes weekends, and overtime as needed. \n

Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and work from elevated levels;\n

Possess good communication skills, both oral and written\n

Proven ability to work safely and adhere to Company policies and procedures\n

Working conditions:\n

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hand to grasp, move or utilize objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. \n

The employee is frequently required to climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch\n

The employee is occasionally required to use sensory perception for quality measurements of products\n

Must be able to move and pull up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.\n

Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus\n

The employee must have the ability to work in hot, humid environment associated with the process area\n

The employee must be able to work in a grain handling environment\n
