Do you have a proven track record in Sales, Business Development, and fostering client/customer relationships? Our client, Blanchard Group, is seeking an experienced Director of Sales to join their team.
The Blanchard Group was founded as Blanchard Ready Mix Ltd. in 1977. Over the following years, Blanchard Ready Mix experienced a very successful growth rate thanks to sustained diversification efforts. Diversification came in the form of implementing a bagging facility that produces multiple products in various types of bags, ranging from retail to specialized mining industry. The Blanchard Group also has a precast manufacturing facility that produces various precast concrete products as well as custom design-built engineering projects. Their products are sold throughout Atlantic Canada. Blanchard Group also operated two quarries where it produced several types of aggregates including concrete.
As the Director of Sales, you will be responsible for managing all sales operations for the organization. The successful individual will maintain responsibility for the leadership and management of the sales team, developing go-to-market strategies, executing sales targets and estimating sales profits.
You are a highly motivated, entrepreneurial leader who can think strategically with the customer in mind. As an influential leader in the business, you will be expected to develop and evaluate the sales strategy with ownership and then operationalize and execute on this daily.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate is a dynamic, innovative leader with a strong background in marketing, sales and business development. Examples of specific duties include (but are not limited to):

Establish and maintain relationships with senior executives in the residential, commercial and industrial construction industries across the region
Develop and maintain a network of key contacts and resources to source potential new business opportunities
Provide guidance, oversight and mentorship to the Blanchard Group team of sales associates and other key account contacts
Manage sales transactions from origination to closing including prospecting, qualifying, structuring and closing deals
Maintain an accurate sales pipeline
Design and implement strategic business development plans to reach sales targets
Work with customers to better understand their business needs and goals, and work to identify new products to bring to market
Develop plans and strategies to launch new product offerings
Assess costs, competition, and supply and demand to identify selling prices
Build and implement plans to increase sales force productivity
Develop, manage and lead marketing and business development campaigns
Identify emerging markets, market shifts while being fully aware of competition status
Work closely with management to achieve growth objectives
Develop and implement organizational customer service standards and policies
Develop reports to facilitate decision-making discussions with the management of the company
Establish objectives and KPIs for the sales and business development functions across the business
Develop creative promotional tools and related go to market strategies
Participate in commercial activities such as trade fairs and conferences
Meet and exceed sales goals and quota
Lead a strong team by developing and motivating them through performance goals, plans and regular performance reviews
Other duties may be assigned

Requirements

A minimum of 5-7 years performing in a progressively senior sales role, including direct sales and business development experience in the construction space
Excellent verbal and written communications skills required in both English and French
Available to travel as required (valid drivers license) primarily in the Atlantic Canada region
Proven track record of contributing to the overall strategic direction and general management of a sales team, with the ability to work comfortably and collegially with senior executives and other members of the team
Degree in business, marketing, sales, or related field of study from a recognized university or a combination of education, training and experience
Excellent communicator and effective leader with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and clients
Ability to analyze results, identify underlying business trends and develop recommendations for future actions
Must have excellent leadership and people management skills

This role requires an experienced hands-on leader that has experience leading sales teams and building relationships with existing and new clients. The successful candidate will be strategic and lead the planning, directing, and evaluating of all sales activities, while demonstrating an entrepreneurial flair in assessing the market and identifying new opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating sales strategies and processes including market identification, defining sales functions, people management and nurturing relationships with current and prospective clients.
