Job Description


Health and Safety Administrator (Part-Time) – Melrose Paving, a mid-size (and growing!) asphalt company, located in the heart of Mississauga, is looking for a part-time Health and Safety Administrator to join their team!
The Health and Safety Administrator under the direction of the Human Resource Manager provides support in all areas of workplace health and safety. The successful candidates will be responsible for facilitating the Human Resource Manager in reviewing, updating, developing and maintaining the current health and safety program and ensuring that all annual health and safety obligations are met.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Manage and maintain companies’ electronic health and safety database (SiteDocs)
· Conduct monthly audits related to health and safety paperwork, identifying gaps and providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement
· Help facilitate, coordinate and administer orientations, annual health and safety meetings and additional trainings, as well as, ensure training records are maintained
· Draft correspondence including letters, memos, reports and presentation materials
· Distribute meeting agendas, minutes and relevant supporting materials and maintain safety board updates throughout the facility
· Ensure that all monthly, quarterly and annual health and safety meetings are being conducted and coincide with company’s annual health and safety agenda
· Review, update, create and administer health safety programs and policies
· Develop audit protocols for programs, procedures and practices
· Identify and implement opportunities for health and safety improvement
· Assist with creating annual health and safety objectives and actions plans
· Assist in companywide risk assessments to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, exposure frequencies and potential control measures
· Assist with the development of recommendations to remove any barriers or hazards based on best practice while maintaining legislative compliance
· Participate in incident investigations, recommend and implement corrective actions
· Review and analyze accident/incident trends and recommend preventative measures
· Maintain safety records and track safety statistical performance (KPI’s)
· Conduct periodic site inspections and safety audits for sites
· Ensure continuous compliance with OHSA and all other relevant health and safety related legislation and regulations
· Maintain and gain current knowledge of provincial legislation relating to Employment Standards, Human Rights, OSHA, Workplace Health & Safety, and Labor Laws
Experience & Qualifications:
· 3 years of relevant experience in a health and safety coordinator role
· Previous construction experience is a requirement
· Previous experience using SiteDocs is an asset
· Working knowledge of Certification of Recognition (COR) is an asset
· Sound knowledge of provincial Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
· Effective organization and presentation skills, with the ability to facilitate meetings and conduct trainings
· Expert computer skills to organize data, prepare reports, formatting etc. within Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Effective communication skills both oral and written
