Position Summary:

The Junior Electrical Engineer / Electrical EIT will be part of an engineering team in Niagara Falls, providing engineering services to large and small projects. The Electrical EIT is responsible, under supervision, for preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports. The Electrical EIT will potentially participate/assist in on-site commissioning.

The Junior Electrical Engineer / Electrical EIT reports to the Lead Electrical Engineer on a large project and to the Project Manager or Engineering Manager on small projects.

Responsibilities:

-Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Electrical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule;
-Prepare, subject to the approval of the Lead Electrical Engineer, technical documentation required for the execution of the project, including but not limited to general layout drawings, design criteria, design calculations, preliminary studies, value engineering studies, process flow sheets, standard specifications, standard detail drawings, construction and/or fabrication drawings, equipment lists, technical specifications, test procedures, commissioning procedures as-built documentation and data sheets;
-Review, check shop drawings, calculus, designs, reports generated out of Hatch and related with the project to ensure conformity with engineering designs and standards;
-Following the award of contracts and purchase orders as instructed, monitor the fabrication and construction work to ensure that it is executed in accordance with the engineering designs;
-Assist the Lead Electrical Engineer to measure, monthly, the progress of the engineering work packages to ensure that project budgets and schedules are being met. Assist the Lead Electrical Engineer in implementing corrective action as required;
-Assist the Lead Electrical Engineers in ensuring that the checking of documentation and interdisciplinary coordination is implemented in accordance with project procedures;
-Assist the Lead Electrical Engineer in the preparation of draft monthly engineering progress reports for incorporation into the engineering monthly report;
-Contribute to the development of different multidisciplinary design solutions;
-Apply industry best practices and applicable codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, CEC, IEC, etc.);
-Assist in factory acceptance tests (FAT) activities and commissioning on site as required; and,
-Adhere to and promote the Hatch corporate safety culture.

Education and Experience:

-Must be working towards graduating in 2021, or recently graduated, with a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering
-Potential to achieve professional engineer status
-Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community
-Previous coop or summer work terms within the engineering or electrical industries are an asset
-Technical experience with electrical software such as ETAP and EasyPower
-Experience with instrumentation and control systems. PLC programming is an asset.
-AutoCAD drafting skills is an asset
-Willingness and ability to travel to project sites including remote sites
