The Refinery Shift Supervisor, reporting to the Refinery Shift Manager, is a leadership position that is responsible to provide effective supervision of assigned Operations Shift Team Technicians and management of assigned operating facilities. These supervisory responsibilities include providing work direction, coaching, recognition, performance management, progression and capability development of assigned Operations technicians.

-Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of their assigned refinery complex by their shift team
-Provides front line supervision for shift team operations technicians ensuring shift objectives are achieved with emphasis on risk identification, assessment and preventative action
-Uses all loss prevention tools to achieve “Nobody Gets Hurt” for their team
-Provides supervision for execution of critical tasks, critical procedures, process equipment preparation and permitting.
-Accountable to deliver positive business results in terms of refinery operating targets, product quality requirements, and product production schedules.
-Exercises approval authority associated with safety critical systems as well as management of change for new and existing procedures.
-Ensures assigned Shift Team Technicians training is up to date and certifies technicians on select training modules
-Ensures all operating procedures executed safely and efficiently and updates procedures where needed.  Leads technicians in regular reviews and updates of assigned procedures.
-Acts as Emergency Response Captain for refinery emergency response team.  Reports to the Incident Commander.
-Acts as medical first responder on the shift.

-Minimum 10 years of general refinery experience or chemical processing experience with a significant portion of that time in a supervisor/leadership role
-Proven ability to direct personnel and make command decisions under stressful conditions.
-Must become Safety Sensitive Certified
-Preference will be given candidates who hold the following training / certifications:

-Medical first responder Certificate, formal fire-fighting and tactics training (Incident Commander Course), spill containment tactics, CPR Certificate, Confined Space Rescue training, High Angle Rescue training, AED
-Ability to administer company policies and administrative practices as they apply to role
-Strong problem solving and balanced decision making skills.
-Valid driver's license is required.

Eligibility to work in Canada
